The Network
Distribution is the hardest part of making an independent film. A film with nowhere to screen it gets shelved, and work meant for an audience never finds one. For most filmmakers without festival traction, the paths that remain are thin: submit to the circuit and wait, or post online and hope.
Austin has a filmmaking community, and an audience that still wants to leave the house for a good film. Iris Complex is building a local, eventually statewide, network of venues willing to give independent work a place to be seen, an experience that transports audiences into a world unknown, through live performance and direct access to the creative minds behind the work.
